What Polyimide Tape Is, and Why Engineers Use It
A thin, heat-stable insulation tape for processes where ordinary PET or PVC tapes lose dimensional control.
Polyimide tape is built from amber polyimide film coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive. The film carries the thermal and dielectric workload, while the adhesive is selected for process needs such as clean high-temperature masking, coil wrapping, battery insulation or die-cut placement.
For electrical assemblies, it is commonly specified where Class H insulation behavior, thin profile and high dielectric resistance are required. For manufacturing processes, it protects selected areas during soldering, powder coating, plating or heat exposure, then removes according to the adhesive grade and dwell condition.
