What Conductive Fabric Tape Is, and Why Engineers Use It
A thin, flexible EMI shielding tape for processes where rigid copper or aluminum foil tapes cannot wrap, fold or conform reliably.
Conductive fabric tape is built from a nickel-over-copper plated polyester woven fabric coated with a conductive pressure-sensitive adhesive. The plated fabric carries the electrical shielding and grounding workload, while the conductive adhesive transfers current vertically between the bonded surface and the fabric face for a continuous low-resistance path.
For EMI-sensitive assemblies, it is commonly specified where a thin, foldable shielding layer is required around flexible printed circuits, antenna modules, display bezels, busbar harnesses and enclosure seams. Compared with copper or aluminum foil tapes, the fabric construction resists creasing, accepts tight-radius wrapping and tolerates repeated flexing without cracking the conductive layer.
